You have three options when it comes to selecting a WiFi router.
Bring your own, Buy one from us or Rent a managed router from us.
We describe the benefits of each below.
Bring your own
You already have one, purchase one from BestBuy or Amazon. You are responsible for supporting your router and the devices behind it. We support up to the Ethernet port and if service works to your Ethernet support that is as far as we go. We can provide some very basic assistance with the settings, but when it comes to WiFi connectivity or settings on your router you will have to work with your router manufacturer. We highly recommend an 802.11ac dual-band router.
Buy one from us
We sell routers as a convenience, so you don’t have to go out and purchase it at a store or order it. And if you buy them us before your install we will install, configure and set them up. We typically sell the TP-Link brand routers. The difference between Bring your own and Buy one from us is that we set it up and configure it. The TP-Link routers are good routers and we have been happy with them. The routers that we well are all 802.11ac. Once installed you own the router. Any support for the router would come from the manufacturer, just as if you bought it from another retailer such as Bestbuy. The difference is that we install it for you when we are installing your modem. If you want to purchase one from us after your Internet is installed, you would be billed for a trip charge of $95 in addition to the router, but we would set it up, configure it and test it. We offer two levels of purchased routers. A dual band basic and a dual band premium router. If you have multiple people in your household using lots of devices or a higher level plan such as 50Mb/s or higher we would recommend the dual band premium.
Rent a managed router from us

With these routers we are able to manage and support your network because we have software that ties into the routers and allows us to see and diagnose any issues that might be happening such as interference, low signal strength, speed issues etc. Please see our Managed Router page for more details. If the router fails, as long at it is not from abuse (water/physical damage/power surge) we will replace it for no charge. If you order a rented router prior to your installation, we will install it for you. If you order it after your Internet installation we will drop ship ($10) it to you, or you can pick it up at our offices during regular business hours Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
